A small, fast pelagic mackerel with an iridescent green-blue back patterned with wavy black bars, travelling in big shoals along the Mediterranean. A beginner favourite on feathers, brilliant eating fresh and one of the best live/cut baits there is.

Best conditions: Spinning feathers/sabiki rigs through surface shoals, often at dawn and dusk
Mackerel never stop swimming — they must keep moving to push water over their gills to breathe.
