A muscular, deep-bodied jack with notably large eyes and a silvery body that darkens to near-black on big specimens. Famous for massing in spectacular spawning shoals around Red Sea reefs by day, it scatters to hunt at dusk and pulls hard on jig and popper.

At dawn cast surface along the reef edge; for the biggest fish, slow- or drift a live sardine or mullet.
