Hamour (grouper) is the most iconic food fish in Egyptian and Red Sea culture. Several species inhabit the reef — the Greasy Grouper is the most representative, alongside Coral Grouper, the protected Napoleon (Humphead) wrasse, and the Giant Grouper. They are ambush predators that live in coral heads and rocky structure, making them perfect targets for bottom fishing.
