A prized pink-red seabream with fine blue spots on the upper body and yellow-tinged fins, found over rocky and mixed ground along Egypt's Mediterranean coast. Excellent eating and a sought-after bottom-fishing target.

Like many seabreams it starts life as a female and can later become male (protogynous hermaphrodite).
