The tigerfish (Hydrocynus forskalii) is the toothy, silver predator of Lake Nasser โ€” named 'kalb el samak' (dog of the fish) by Nubian fishers for its fang-filled jaws. Fast, aggressive and acrobatic, it is a prized fly and lure target alongside Nile perch on the lake.

Did you know?

Tigerfish have interlocking dagger teeth and bony jaws โ€” anglers lose many to bite-offs and dropped hooks, so wire traces and very sharp hooks are essential.
