A medium-sized baleen whale, the only one resident year-round in warm tropical seas, recognizable by three parallel ridges on top of its head. It is one of the few large whales recorded regularly in the Egyptian Red Sea, where it lunge-feeds on schooling fish and plankton.
This is a protected or non-target species — please don't fish for it. If it's accidentally hooked, release it quickly and unharmed.

Keep well clear and reduce vessel speed; ship strikes are a serious risk to these whales.
