Our story

We had no idea what we were doing.So we built the thing we needed.

ReefPin started on a bad day on the Mediterranean coast — two friends, a cooler, way too much gear, and zero clue where the fish actually were.

The morning trip

Two friends, a cooler, and enough tackle to confuse the shop owner who sold it to us — and not a clue what to do with any of it.

Hours circling on Google Maps, three different answers from four people. On the water at last: excited, lost, underprepared.

Three YouTube tutorials and one heated argument about sinker weights later, we were fishing. Sort of. The fish disagreed.

What is ReefPin?

ReefPin is a dedicated fishing app for Egypt — fishing spots with legality and women-recommended safety details, live sea conditions, techniques, a full fish species guide, AI fish identification, a catch logbook and an angler community, in English and Arabic. It's a fishing companion, not a marine chart plotter or dive waypoint tool.

Do I need a boat?

No. Spots, techniques and the guide cover shore, jetty and boat fishing alike — from the rocks to the deep blue.

Which waters does it cover?

All of Egypt — the Red Sea, the Gulf of Suez, the Mediterranean coast, Lake Nasser and the Nile.

Is it really free to start?

Yes — 14 days free, the full app, no card needed. After that it's 120 EGP/month or 1,200 EGP/year (save 17%). It doesn't auto-renew: each payment covers one period, so you're never charged again unless you buy another.

I'm a complete beginner — is it for me?

Especially. We built it because we were beginners. Plain-language techniques, knots step by step, and a community that actually answers.

What is AI Fish ID?

Snap a photo of your catch and the app names the species, gives its Arabic name, and tells you how to catch — and cook — it.

Do I need to install anything?

No app store needed. ReefPin is an installable web app — add it to your home screen and it works like a native app.

How do levels and Hunting work?

Every catch, trip and contribution earns points. Climb from Deckhand to Admiral, unlock Hunting at Captain, then collect species and complete challenges.

What's Guided vs Pro mode?

Guided adds extra tips and a gentler layout for newcomers. Pro strips it back for experienced anglers. Switch anytime in your profile.

Can I use it offline?

Yes — log your catches with no signal; they sync automatically when you're back online.

Can I rent a place to fish?

Yes — ReefPin Stays lists fishing-friendly homes and chalets. Search your dates and send a booking request.

How does ReefPin help women find a suitable fishing spot?

Women can voluntarily report lighting, visible security or staff, people nearby, mobile signal, access, restrooms and whether they would recommend a spot. ReefPin only shows recent grouped observations and requires at least three reports with 75% support before displaying a women-recommended badge. It is community guidance, not a safety guarantee.
