Privacy Policy

Who we are

ReefPin is operated by BITS Blackrock IT Solutions LLC(“BITS”, “we”, “us”), the controller responsible for your personal data. You can reach us at support@reefpin.com or through the Founders page.

What we collect

• Account: your name, email and avatar, handled by our authentication provider (Clerk).
• Profile: what you choose to add — bio, fishing areas, skill level, target species.
• Your activity: catches, fishing trips, saved spots, gear and messages you create.
• Location: only when you tap a “use my location” or “pin” button. We never track you in the background.
• Payments: if you subscribe, your card/wallet details are entered directly with our payment processor (Kashier) — we never see or store full card numbers. We keep a record of your plan, billing dates and transaction references.

How we use it

To run the app: show your logbook and spots, connect you with fishing buddies, power Fish ID and gear scanning, process your subscription, and personalise content to your region. We do not sell your personal data.

Who processes data for us

• Clerk — sign-in & account management.
• Supabase — database & storage for your catches, spots, trips, gear, photos and messages.
• Anthropic (Claude) — the photo you submit for Fish ID / gear scanning is processed to return a result.
• Kashier — secure card & wallet payment processing for subscriptions.
• Telegram — operational alerts to our team (for example a new sign-up, booking request, or feedback message), which can include the name and details you submitted.
• Open-Meteo — weather & marine forecasts for the coordinates you view.
• Vercel — hosting.

Some of these providers operate servers outside Egypt. Where data is transferred abroad, we rely on reputable providers with appropriate safeguards and only share what is needed to deliver the service.

Sharing & visibility

Catches and trips are private unless you explicitly tick “share to the community feed”. Community items are shown without your name. Buddy connections are visible only to the people involved.

How long we keep it

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. When you ask us to delete your account, we remove your personal data, except where we must keep limited records (for example, payment/transaction records) to meet legal and accounting obligations.

Your rights

Under Egypt's Personal Data Protection Law (Law No. 151 of 2020) you can access, correct, update or delete your personal data, withdraw consent, and object to certain processing. From Profile, under "Your data," you can export a full copy of your data at any time and delete your account and all your data yourself, end to end. You can also edit or delete individual catches, trips, spots and gear in the app. You may complain to the Egyptian Data Protection Center.

Security

Access to your data is restricted and served over encrypted connections. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

Children

ReefPin is not intended for children under 18. If you are a minor, please use ReefPin only with the consent and supervision of a parent or guardian.
