What the fishing is like
The Sinai peninsula's southern tip separates the Gulf of Suez from the Gulf of Aqaba, and the Aqaba side is geologically different from the rest of Egypt's Red Sea: the shelf is narrow, so deep water sits unusually close to shore. From Dahab north to Taba you can reach serious depth from a rocky shoreline.
That geography makes the fishing here inshore-heavy in a way the mainland coast is not. Shore spinning and fly fishing work off the rocks and flats; boat trips out of Sharm reach reef edges and bluewater without a long run.
It is also the most restricted coast in Egypt. Ras Mohammed National Park covers the peninsula's tip, and Nabq and Abu Galum are managed protectorates further north.
